Portsmouth Marker ‘25

As part of the redevelopment of the coastline of Portsmouth and Southsea in 2024, a sculpture was commissioned to complete a set of works installed there by John Maine more than 50 years ago. The new Portsmouth Marker is different (the six originals works were carved in Portland stone, whereas the new piece is larger and in granite) but is intended as a kind of ‘cousin’. It was opened by the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth in June 2025.
